Welcome to Selby Town PCN’s health and wellbeing workshops for people registered at:

All our workshops aim to provide more information about different health conditions and explore diet and lifestyles to maintain health, strength, and wellbeing.

Diabetes

Diabetes Support Group

This friendly group holds regular talks on living well with diabetes from local healthcare professionals and guest speakers. Come and meet others living with diabetes and get some top tips on how to manage your glucose levels well.

Carbohydrate Counting 

Understand how to count carbohydrates and make insulin dose adjustments to help keep glucose levels steady and stable.  Booking by invitation or request (please enquire with the form below).

Low Carbohydrate Diets 

Low carbohydrate diets can be an effective way to manage glucose levels, reduce your HbA1c and it can help with weight loss. Booking by invitation (please enquire with the form below).

Diabetes Remission Programme 

This is an information session for people who have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes for less than 6 years. We discuss the diabetes remission programme (shake replacement diets) in depth for weight loss for blood glucose management. We also discuss other ways to lose weight with an opportunity for referral to different weight management programmes. Booking by invitation (please enquire with the form below).

Insulin Skills 

This workshop is for people living with type 2 diabetes who are taking insulin to manage their glucose levels – for those on once daily insulin, mixed insulin and multiple daily injections of insulin. Booking by invitation (please enquire with the form below).

Good 2 Go 

This full day workshop is for people who are newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, or for those who would like a refresher. Find out about what diabetes is, what your risk factors are for having diabetes, potential long term health complications and how to reduce your risk with diet and lifestyle management. Pre-Diabetes Lifestyle Information Session

Join us to find out more about pre-diabetes and what you can do to manage your glucose levels well. Learn about the National Diabetes Prevention Programme and how to get a referral.

Join our monthly support group for a cuppa, a chat, meet others with heart conditions and get support from healthcare professionals to maintain your health and wellbeing.

In this group we discuss what high blood pressure is, what can cause high blood pressure and the long-term risks. We discuss diet and lifestyle changes that help to reduce high blood pressure as well as different medications and how they work.

Gut Health

Core Explore – The Summit (2 hours)

This workshop is to discuss the first-line advice for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). We explore what can cause IBS or make it worse, and we share lots of different strategies that might help to manage IBS symptoms.

Healthy Lungs – Coming soon 

Find out more about how activity, eating well and healthy lifestyles can help to keep your lungs working well. There will be an opportunity to be referred to an exercise programme to help improve your muscle strength.  

Women's Health

Menopause Group 

This workshop is for women who are interested in learning more about the diet and lifestyle changes that can improve menopausal symptoms. Additionally, learning how to reduce the risk of long term conditions associated with the menopause, such as cardiovascular health, bone health and brain health.
